What is organic, bio or organic?
In a general sense, organic products are those products made without the use of chemicals without genetic intervention in harmony with nature and the environment.
Usually they are called bio / organic / ecological those products certified for this purpose by a certification body.
What is certified organic / bio?
From a legal perspective, organic certification is the certification of agricultural products or other types of products related to agriculture: grains, meat, processed foods, dairy, etc.. Conditions that a product must meet to be certified organic differ from one country to another, but there are a common set of general rules around the world:
- It is forbidden, with few exceptions, the use of artificial chemicals such as fertilizers, pesticides, food additives;
- It is forbidden to use genetically modified organisms;
- It is forbidden to use irradiation;
- Land use must be free of chemicals for many years before starting organic production;
- Certified manufacturers must keep a written record of daily operations;
- Anytime may occur unannounced inspections of certification bodies or authorities.
