%%Cao Bá Quát (1809-1854) - a great poet and self-denying person - had Gia Lâm (in present-day Hà Nội) as native village. Though famous for writing talent, he passed through many hardships and was very dissatisfied with the current circumstances. In 1854, he and some of his friends rose up in arms against Nhà Nguyễn (Nguyễn Dynasty). Eventually, Cao Bá Quát was killed in action. Leaving many excellent works, he was a poet attached to the people and full of sympathy with the working masses.
