%%Lê Thái Tổ (Lê Lợi, 1385-1433) - founder of Nhà Hậu Lê (Post-Le Dynasty) - was born in Lam Sơn (Thọ Xuân, Thanh Hoá) in a rich and influential family. In 1418, Lê Lợi proclaimed himself Bình Định Vương (King of Pacification), rose up in arms in Lam Sơn and was determined to chase away the Ming invaders. He laid down strategies, and commanded in person the battles during 10 years of resistance (1418-1427). Lê Lợi and Nguyễn Trãi gave birth to an original method in the Vietnamese military arts (besieging the citadel, exterminating the reinforcement, catching the enemy's weak points). Ascending the throne in 1428, Lê Lợi tried to reconstruct the country, paid special attention to cultural and educational development and defence of national independence. He was buried in Vinh Lang (Lam Sơn).
