%%Lý Nam Đế (? - 548) : As an orphan from his early childhood, Lý Bí (Lý Bôn) spent 10 years to enter religion. After having resigned as mandarin, he rose up in arms against the Lương invaders. Lý Bí ascended the throne in 544, founded Nhà Tiền Lý (Pre-Ly Dynasty), proclaimed himself Lý Nam Đế and had Khai Quốc Pagoda - predecessor of the Trấn Quốc Pagoda at Hồ Tây (West Lake in Hà Nội) - constructed . His kingdom was named Vạn Xuân with the royal capital located in todays Hà Nội. Defeated by the Lương invaders, Lý Nam Đế fell ill, transferred the power to Triệu Quang Phục (Triệu Việt Vương) and died in 548. There are up to 200 Lý Nam Đế temples in North-Vietnam. Especially, his temple in Thái Thụy district (Thái Bình) has the horizontal lacquered board engraved with four words " Vạn Xuân Xã Tắc " (Country of numberless springs).
