%%Mạc Đăng Dung (1483-1541) - founder of Nhà Mạc (Mac Dynasty) - had Co Trai (Nghi Duong district, Hai Duong province) as native village.Though born in a poor family, this seven-generation grandchild of Mạc Đĩnh Chi was good at wrestling and reputed for strength, energy. In the Lê times, this fisherman came to the royal city to take part in the wrestling contest and was chosen as De Nhat Do Luc Si (First-rank wrestler). He won the king's heart and was chosen as Prince Consort. Later, he was proclaimed chancellor and prince. At that time, Nhà Hậu Lê (Post- Le Dynasty) declined, the kings indulged in debauchery and national affairs were in disorder. It was in that context that Mac Dang Dung overthrew Nhà Hậu Lê (Post-Le Dynasty and founded Nhà Mạc (Mạc Dynasty). This fact resulted in North and South dynasties' uninterrupted conflicts. However, during tens of years later, the society under the Mac dynasty got some stability and development. Many great intellectuals accepted to collaborate with Nhà Mạc (Mạc Dynasty). It was recognized in the official history of the Le6 dynasty : " During some years, nobody picked up dropped belongings, the gates were not necessarily closed, the bumper crops were frequent and the country was temporarily peaceful" (Entire History of Daiviet). Afterwards, Mac Dang Dung left the throne to his son Mac Dang Doanh and became the king's father. To propose cease-fire to the Ming dynasty, the Mac family had to cede land to them. Mac Dang Dung died at the age of 58.
