%%*Nhà Trần (Trần Dynasty) : By Trần Thủ Độ's artful arrangements, Lý Chiêu Hoàng abdicated in favour of Trần Cảnh (future Trần Thái Tôn). Trần Dynasty with 12 kings reigned during 175 years. The centralism was restored and strengthened with the very severe laws. The economy thrived due to the irrigation and land reclaiming works. Little by little, Confucianism prevailed over Buddhism. The competitive examinations for doctorate were held, and there were such talents as Lê Văn Hưu, Mạc Đỉnh Chi, Chu Văn An, Nguyễn Thuyên... Along with the progress in the military field, the Nôm language was largely popularized. Beside three resounding victories over the Mongol invaders (1258, 1285, 1288), many peasant and servant insurrections broke out at the end of Trần Dynasty. The kings were Trần Thái Tôn (1226-1258), Trần Thánh Tôn (1258-1278), Trần Nhân Tôn (1278-1293), Trần Anh Tôn (1293-1314), Trần Minh Tôn (1314-1329), Trần Hiển Tôn (1329-1341), Trần Dụ Tôn (1341-1369), Dương Nhật Lễ (1369-1370), Trần Nghệ Tôn (1370-1372), Trần Duệ Tôn (1372-1377), Trần Phế Đế (1377-1389), Trần Thuận Tôn (1389-1398). In 1400, the regent Hồ Quý Ly dethroned Trần Thiếu Đế (3 years old) and set up Nhà Hồ (Hồ Dynasty). Later, Ming Dynasty suppressed Hồ Dynasty and dominated our country.
