%%With Bát Nhị (Quảng Nam) as native land,Trần Quý Cáp (1870-1908) - a patriotic scholar and poet - was descended from a poor peasant family. Through many hardships in examinations, this good student graduated as doctor in 1904 and became a middle-rank mandarin. He indulged in anti-French activities by propagandizing Cần Vương Decree, having contacts with Phan Bội Châu and campaigning for the Duy Tân (reformist) movement... Trần Quý Cáp was executed because of the anti-tax movement in Central Vietnam. With an expressive and forceful style, his literary works (mislaid for the most part) stimulated the patriotism, the elimination of slavery, and lashed out at the dishonest mandarins.
