The festival is primarily a Celtic fire festival, midsummer representing the midst of summer, and the shortening with the days on their gradual goal to wintertime. Midsummer is customarily celebrated on either the particular 23rd or perhaps 24th of June, even though the longest day actually falls on the 21st of June. The importance of your day to our ancestors and forefathers can be followed back many thousands of decades, and many natural stone circles and other ancient monuments tend to be aligned on the sunrise upon Midsummer's Day. By far the most famous alignment is that with Stonehenge, where the sunshine rises on the heel gemstone, framed by the giant trilithons about Midsummer morning.
