W: I rented a good movie last night. M: Really. What was it? W: It was called “It Could Happen to You”. It‘s about a policeman and a waitress. The policeman won the lottery and__ M: He gave the waitress half his winning, didn’t he? W: Yes, he did. How did you know? Have you seen the movie? M: No, but I’ve read about it. The move was based on a true story, wasn’t it? W: Really? I didn’t know that. I thought it was just a movie. M: No, I’m pretty sure it was a true story. I thing it was a police officer in New Work… he went to Italian restaurant a lot and he got to know this one waitress. One night, instead of a tip, he offered her half his share in a lottery ticket. You know, it was kind of joke…but they chose the numbers together. Of course, the waitress just forgot about it. But, the police officer came back the next day and said that they’d won-six million dollars! W: Wow, that’s amazing, isn’t it? M: Yes, it is. I don’t know if everyone would keep a promise like that to share the winnings. W: Hmm, you’re probably right… The story in the movie is a little different because in the movie the policeman and the waitress didn’t know each other-it was the first time that he’d been the restaurant. And, he already had the ticket… so they didn’t choose the numbers together. M: Yes, I think that is different from the original story. W: Also, the waitress had huge financial problems the movie… she worked hard and save, but she didn’t earn a lot of money. So it was all perfect… and, of course, she and the police officer fell in love in the end… I don’t think that happened in real life… M: No, that sounds more like a Hollywood ending, doesn’t it? W: Yes, it does…but you never know.
